This Chapter gives a brief description on the existing scenario of various environmental dimensions along-with the statistical data generated.
3.1 PHYSICAL ENVIR ONMENT
3.1.1 Site Location and its Surrounding
The proposed project of Sugar (3500TCD) and 30 MW co-generation plant of Yawatmal Sugar Factory Ltd. is located at Bijora Tal and District Yawatmal of Maharashtra Government State.
The (CAIL) has already acquired 70 hectares of land for the proposed project.
The site is selected on the recommendation of the Commissioner of Sugar,
Maharashtra Government State, Pune and is approved by the Government of
Maharashtra.The Site Selection Committee of Maharashtra Govemnent Pollution
Control Board (MPCB) visited 4 alternative sites of (CAIL). After examining the
site proposed at Bijora Tai. Mahagaon and Dist. Yawatmal. Selection committee
recommended site No. 4 at Bijora for establishing the sugar project.
Subsequently, the Commissioner of Sugar has communicated the final selection
of site located at Bijora, Tal. Mahagaon and Dist. Yawatmal, for establishment of
sugar unit. The same site has been considered for proposed cogen plant.
Geographical Location
The Yawatmal district lies between 19 ° 26' to 20° 42' North laltitude and 77° 18'
to 79 ° 9' East Latitude. It is surrounded by Amravati In The North, Chandrapur
and Wardha in the east, Nanded district and Andhra Pradesh in the south, and
Akola and Prabhani in the west. The taluka Mahagaon is bounded by in the
west by Umerkhed north and south by Nanded District, and east by Pusad. The
boundaries of Nanded and Yawatmal district covered by river Painganga and Wardha river.
The slope of the district is from north-northwest to south east. The Yawatmal district belong to Balaghat. On the north it extends into Payanghat, and include a small part of it which is belt of palin from 8 to 22 km in breadth along the north of Yawatmal and Dharwah tashil. The main system of hills is the Ajanta mountains.The whole distict is ocupied by small east-west ranges of these mountains. Penganga river gives a strip of plain in many parts of its course on the southern border of district.The tributaries of the penganga again have formed valleys often some kms in bredth through the hill country.
